Da Nang to Hue

We arrived in Hue mid afternoon via Da Nang and a 2 hour car drive via the tunnel under the mountain.
The car was provided at a reasonable price of  US $67 for 5 passengers by Hue Private Car Hire and came with an English speaking driver. He also explained that the red light doesn't always mean stop and the line in the middle of the road is only a guide. However, we did note that most did stick to the speed limit even if driving on the wrong side of the road or in the wrong direction.
We stopped for what was supposed to be a light refreshments and ended up being late lunch at a restaurant on the shores of the Lang Co lagoon. The usual spring rolls and fried rice.
An hour later we arrived at the Gold Hotel in Hue.
After some unpacking and a freshen up it was just about dark and we set off in search of the Nook Eatery to catch up with an old work colleague. We had to negotiate the largest and busiest junction in Hue at night in rush hour as our christening to crossing the road. Lots of hand holding etc and no rushing slowly slowly.
I had what was probably the best meal in the two weeks at the Nook which was some pork with noodles and a hot sizzling sauce poured over it. Highly recommended.
